The recreated Company K, 28th MVI, is founded on the belief that the highest and most sincere form of tribute that can be paid to any person, group or historical era is the creation of a thoughtful, respectful, considered, and accurate living history portrayal of their lives and times. Toward that end, Company K is dedicated to honoring the lives and accomplishments of the original members of Company K, 28th MVI, their families and supporters, and their significant social institutions of church, community and workplace.

The motto of the recreated Company K, 28th MVI is "Ardaich an Sparra",  Gaelic for "Raise the Bar".
